Camping Grub 2009 Part 3

When my SIL Shan cooks a meal, she really cooks a meal. On top of her day job, she & her mom, C, also have a catering business, so Shan can cook, man, and there is always a ton of food. Camping trips are no exception. You know if you camp with Shan, you will get a huge, slap-up, tasty meal.

So for night #3, there was a feast: chicken marinated in white wine, garlic, and herbs; marinated grilled green peppers; fried potatoes; grilled corn on the cob; and sauteed asparagus. It was totally excellent! The corn, again, was sweet, tender, and delicious. The asparagus was a bit tough, but still good. My dad came for dinner this night, on his way back from Nelson, and he brought us a trifle for dessert from Save-On Foods. Sorry for the crappy night shot...Tomorrow's post: S'moreos! Woo-hoo!

That's a fantastic meal! You really ate well out in the woods! S'moreos? Now that sounds absolutely sinful!

That looks so good! Why does food always taste better in the great outdoors?

I agree with Jenn, food is so much better outdoors. What a great feast!

The bight shot tells a story. Makes us feel a part of the camping trip (without the bugs)

Glad you are getting your corn fix finally!

Hi everyone!

I have no idea why food cooked over a campstove tastes way better, but it just does! I also believe it has far fewer calories than regular food, so it's OK to eat more of it! ;)

Girlichef: yes, the corn was HUGE. But soooo goooooood! Alas, that was the last of the season!

I love camp food. Even if it is stuff I make at home on the regular grill, it still tastes so much better over a fire. Last camping trip of the year is next weekend-can't wait!

Do you happen to be camping with my parents at Roane Mountain? My mom is the ultimate camp cook. They are camping with 4 other couples this week and have had things like lasagna, roast chicken, beef roasts, blueberry cobbler, etc, etc.

Nice looking plate!
